Donation of Solar Lights – Pookkulam in Puttalam Districit

July 4

Pookkulam is a village in the jungles in the Puttalam district one side end, which is just behind the Wilpattu Wild Life Park, but has to travel through Murungan, a distance of around 350 meters one way traveling from Colombo. There are about 100 families living there for more than 200 years and leave the place due to the LTTE occupying during the Civil war. As the war ended, they came back to their land which has become a jungle, where they settled down. During the Civil war, this land was taken over by the Wild Life Department as a Forest Reservation and as such these families were asked to go away and no electricity is provided to them. The final approach road is damaged.
