Independence Day Celebrations

LFRO National Director for Biodiversity Ms. Subodha Pemasiri sponsored a tree planting program at a program organized by the temple of the Bhikshu Gilan Vivekaramaya in Meetotamulla  on the day of the 77th independence of Sri Lanka ( 4.02.2025),  to gather all religious communities on the occasion of the Independence Day . Toys were distributed to the Children. ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ 77 වැනි නිදහස් දිනයේදී (2025.02.4) මීතොටමුල්ල භික්ෂු ගිලන් විවේකාරාම විහාරස්ථානය විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද නිදහස් දිනය නිමිත්තෙන් සර්ව ආගමික ප්‍රජාවන් ඒකරාශී කිරීම සඳහා සංවිධානය කරන ලද වැඩසටහනකදී LFRO ජාතික ජෛව විවිධත්ව අධ්‍යක්ෂ සුබෝධා පේමසිරි මහත්මිය රුක් රෝපණ වැඩසටහනකට අනුග්‍රහය දක්වන ලදී. ළමයින්ට සෙල්ලම් බඩු ද බෙදා දුන්නා. இலங்கையின் 77வது சுதந்திர தினத்தன்று (4.02.2025) மீதொட்டமுல்ல பிக்ஷு கிலான் விவேகராமய ஆலயத்தினால் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்ட அனைத்து மத சமூகங்களையும் சுதந்திர தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு ஒன்றிணைக்கும் நிகழ்வில் LFRO தேசிய பல்லுயிரியலுக்கான பணிப்பாளர் திருமதி சுபோதா பேமசிறி மர நடுகை நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு அனுசரணை வழங்கினார். குழந்தைகளுக்கு பொம்மைகள் வழங்கப்பட்டது.

Tree Planting (Home Gardening)

2.06.2023 300 Pomegranate plants were handed over to the Chief Priest of the  Meethotamulla Bhikshu Arama Pansala, Avissawella Road, Wellampitiya, to be distributed to the children who attend the Poson Poya activities at this Buddhist Temple. The cost of each plant was Rs.100/- and the contributions were made by Mr. Abu Zanas (150 plants), Mrs. Mano Daniel (100 plants) and  Miss. Anandi Dharmendra (50 plants)

Tree Planting Date: August 2, 2023 Venue: School of Vavuniya Kalmadu 2 Vidhiyalam Organized by: Vavuniya District Lanka Fundamental Rights Organization with the assistance of Vavuniya Kalmadu 2 Vidyalayam. It was a resounding success, exemplifying the remarkable potential of community-driven initiatives in fostering environmental stewardship. The collaborative effort between the Vavuniya District Lanka Fundamental Rights Organization and the School of Vavuniya Kalmadu 2 Vidhiyalam saw the participation of a diverse and enthusiastic group of attendees, including students, teachers, volunteers, and members of the community…With the aim of cultivating a greener tomorrow, nearly 100 Tabebuia rosea trees were planted during the event. The active involvement of school students was particularly heartening, showcasing their commitment to nurturing nature. Guided by experts, the participants planted each sapling with care and learned about proper planting techniques, underscoring the educational aspect of the project. The Tree Planting Project stands as a shining example of collective determination and shared responsibility. It highlighted the potential for positive change when communities unite for a common cause. As the freshly planted trees take root and flourish, they serve as a living testament to the efforts of all those involved, symbolizing hope for a greener and more sustainable future. In conclusion, the Tree Planting Project not only added to the local ecosystem but also left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all participants. Mannar 17.02.2022 A Widow in the Jaffna District was living a hard life as although she had a piece of land, she does not have any assistance for he to do cultivation. The Mannar President along with the Jaffna President gave her sufficient Banana Plants, Coconut Plants, and vegetable seeds such as Long Beans & Okra.  They are not interested in anyone taking photos and publishing them and as we as our North Presidents do not like giving publicity, we only publish a few photos.
