Hearing Aids to a Small Girl

Kuruwita, Ratnapura 12.06.2022 The Parents of a six year old girl from Kuruwita met our National Director Ms. Nadeeka Kumari and informed her that none of the Schools in the area are giving admission to this Child to attend School as she cannot hear anything. Ms. Nadeeka Kumari spoke to the Principal of the School and assured that this Child would be provided with necessary hearing aid and requested her to admit her to the School. When the Principal agreed, Ms. Nadeeka referred this girl to an ENT Surgeon and was informed that she needs hearing aids for both sides. She coordinated with the Central Provincial Director Eng Walisundera who volunteered somehow to assist this Child. With the presence of the Kandy District President Mr. Ajith Hewawasam, the Deltota Divisional President Mr. Ullandupitiya & Ganga Ihala Korale Divisional President Mr.Andagala representing the Lions Club as well made arrangements and donated same to the Child today, which cost Rs.300,000

Solution to Elephant Human Conflict

Tabbowa Forest 11.06.2022 The Elephant – Human Conflict is a big issue in Puttalam District in places such as Karuwalagaswewa, Tabbowa and Saliyawewa. After long investigation and with a trial at Neelabhemma by blocking the elephant path with a few Agawa Plants, we identified that the elephants does not close to this plant and changed their direction. Therefore as a first stage, we planted 300 Agawa Plants for one mile covering the elephant path at the 12th mile post by the side of the road from Puttalam to Anuradhapura. Further steps – we would grow elephant grass around all the lakes as fodder for the elephants, plant ginger around the electric fence and fruits trees for birds between the electric fence and the road. One of our newly joined Youth – Miss. Anandi Dharmendra supported us with 30 Agawa plants.

Computer Literacy for a small School

Vavuniya District 3rd June 2022 Computers, Computer Desks and Chairs were donated by Mr.Mohanaraj for a small pre-School in Vavuniya ( which they do not want to name) with 62 Students. In addition, those children who attended this event was given lunch.

Mannar District 7th May 2022 There are two Schools in Pesalai Village with children from displaced families who are housed in this village. The Mannar District President Mr. Mohanaraj organized indoor & outdoor games for these children and prizes, gifts, sports goods, school books, school bags, etc., etc., were distributed to these children.

Assisting a Child Kidney Patient

Kandy 7th May 2022 There was an urgent need for a Toilet for a small child who was suffering from kidney disabilities. A comfortable Toilet was built for her by our Central Province Secretary Rohitha Wijethilaka. This girl was given a Tin of Nutritious Milk Powder and cash Rs.5,000/- for her travelling expenses.

Kandy 7th May 2022 Project conducted by our Central Province Secretary Rohitha Wijethilaka. Who selected 12 poorest of the poor families and distributed them Dry Rations including Rice, Dhal, Fish, Sugar, Potatoes, Onion, Flour, Coconut and many more and gave Rs.2,000/- to each of these 12 families.

Seeduwa 24.04.2022 A joint Multi Service Project organized by the Lanka Fundamental Rights Organization and the Lions Clubs of Region 3A, at Bandaranayake School, Seeduwa on 24th April 2022. Ms. Nadeeka Kumari, a specialist on youth empowerment & development conducted a Youth Empowerment program. This was a very interesting & valuable program, as the after effect of Covid 19 has challenged the mentality of the parents and Children.
