Vision Care

26.04.2025 Eye Care Galkadawala, Nikaweratiya Eye Screening and donation of Spectacles done at  the village of Galkadawala, Nikaweratiya,  for which 9 of our members participated.  More than 200 elderly community members participated and we were able to donate  114 Reading Glasses and 6 Bifocal Spectacles as per their reports available. Some identified as having excellent eye vision, while some were referred for Cataract surgery consultations.

22.02.2025  Kotagala With the assistance of Social Welfare Mandram of Kotagala, members of the Kandana LFRO donated Books and other items to 12 inmates of the Center for disabled children maintained by the Social Welfare Mandram of Kotagala.  This is the initial collaboration between the two NGOs to further their services together.

Seeduwa 16.02.2025 18 pregnant mothers were provided with clothing and toiletries needed during childbirth. The contributions were made by Mr. Isuru, LFRO President of Katana and his team of Board Members. It was held at the Seeduwa Sri Sugatharamaya Temple main hall with the presence of the Chief Venerable Priest of the Temple, the Teachers and Mr. Udayanga, the PHI of the Seeduwa MOH Office.

Over 350 children were given pens, pencils, erasers and cutters each. The contributions were made by Mr. Nandakumar, LFRO President of Ja-ela and the members of LFRO Katana headed by the President Mr. Isuru. Clean Sri Lanka – Environment

15.02.2025 Clean Diyawanna Lake, surrounding the Parliament Complex and Diyatha Uyana area under the Clean Sri Lanka project organized by Brigadier Yohan Fernando, Director of Lanka Fundamental Rights Organization. Conducted on Saturday 15th February 2025 from  8.00 am to 4.00 pm and the following areas were cleaned.  Beautiful Island, Smiling People   The mission of the Clean Sri Lanka project is to        reposition the 144 Infantry Brigade Area of  responsible efforts of environmental, social and governance initiatives through introducing change, integration and collaboration. PARTNERS OF THE PROJECT Army, Navy, SLAF, Police, Water’s Edge Staff, RDA, SLLDC, LFRO, Rowing Club There were more than 400 persons who took part in the event  and 5000 Kgs of Garbage was collected. AREAS CLEANED Polduwa Road and Canal Rowing Canal Parliament Entrance Road and Lake Bank Palam Thuna Junction Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Road Thuru Mithuru Project area and Walking Track Total cost Rs.338,000
