Residents have faced significant hardships, losing access to basic necessities and suffering damage to their properties. To assess the human rights situation and provide immediate relief, a team from the Sri Lanka Fundamental Rights Organization (LFRO), led by Northern Province Additional Director General Mr. Puvanesan Mohanarayan, visited the village today. 2. Key Grievances and Requests from the Community During the distribution, the LFRO team engaged in a dialogue with the villagers. The community highlighted two critical long-term issues that require immediate state intervention: Agricultural Rehabilitation: The floods have completely destroyed paddy cultivations and other farmlands. The villagers requested the government and relevant departments to provide urgent assistance to rebuild their agricultural livelihoods. Elephant Protection Fence: A long-standing issue in the region is the intrusion of wild elephants. The villagers urgently requested the installation of an Electric Elephant Fence to protect their residential areas and remaining agricultural lands. 4.
