Cultivating Resilience and Sustainable Practices through Youth Engagement

The National Youth Services Council, in collaboration with the 5th National Youth Parliament, launched the “Our Garden – Garden Cultivation Competition” at the Ukuwela Divisional Secretariat to promote sustainable gardening and productive use of time during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

This initiative not only encouraged healthy lifestyles, food security, and community resilience (SDG 2 & 3), but also fostered environmental stewardship and sustainable local practices (SDG 11 & 12).

An inspection visit was conducted to evaluate the progress, highlighting the impact of youth-led initiatives in promoting social cohesion, sustainability, and active civic engagement.
