HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

10.12.2021 What are Human Rights ? Human rights are he basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from birth until death. They apply regardless of where you are from, what you believe or how you choose to live your life. They can never be taken away, although they can sometimes be restricted – for example if the person breaks the law, or in the interests of national security. These basic rights are based on shared values like dignity, fairness, equality, respect and independence. These values are defined and protected by law. The Central Province Director Eng. Walisundera and his team organized an event on 10th December 2021 starting from 9.00 am in Kandy City to celebrate the Human Rights Day. The Members were given a Mug each to keep as a memory of our activities and the public were distributed with leaflets and awareness given to them about their fundamental rights which they are not aware of it. Also we gave a media conference and this was a news item in all the TV Channels of Sri Lanka. We have taken the first valuable step towards educating the public and we are confident that very soon the human rights violations would be reduced to the bottom.

The youngest son met with an accident and he is disabled and at the rehabilitation center. His 28 year old only son living is looking after the father and he too is a mental patient. They are having a very hard time and the neighbors are helping them. They are not asking for big things, but asking for only a Wheel Chair, Pampers and if possible, some dry rations. We feel that if we are able to help him with a prosthetic limb, he will be able to at least sell lottery tickets and make an income for them. There are also several other poor people who cannot afford to spend any money.
